The 15 Makeup Packing Essentials

You’re leaving for a trip and starting to think about everything you need to pack, and slowly, a little tinge of anxiety sneaks up on you. You obviously can’t pack your entire wardrobe or makeup collection, despite wanting to, so you have to pick your favorite items. Since recently moving to Ohio, I’ve traveled home frequently and after many trips of overpacking makeup, I’ve finally narrowed down the key items I need. Check out my packing essentials below:

1. Tarte Rainforest of the Sea | Volume II: After seeing this for a steal at Sephora (only $18, can you believe it!), I had to pick it up. It’s a great mixture of neutrals, shimmers, and dark cool tones to create a variety of looks, and the shadows are so buttery.

2. Urban Decay Primer Potion | Eden: A go-to of mine for a while. It evens out the color of my lids, and prevents any creasing for long travel days.

3. Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Liner | Blackquer: I’m a big fan of lining my waterline, and I’ve finally found an eyeliner that doesn’t budge. This stuff is long-lasting, and comes in so many colors! I recommend black, blue, and green.

4. Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray: This primer mixture is a dream. I apply the Too-Faced Hangover Primer first, and I follow with the setting spray (before and after makeup) and it keeps my makeup looking fresh all day.

5. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk | Shade 4.5: I decided to splurge and purchase a travel size. I’m so happy I did! It’s a medium to full coverage and leaves your skin with a healthy glow.

6. Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer | Vanilla: THIS CONCEALER! Wow. So underrated, yet so incredible. It stays under my eyes all day and blends in so easily.

7. Benefit Ka-Brow | Shade 4 & Givenchy Mister Brow Groom: Lately, eyebrows have been one of my favorite parts of my makeup routine. It seriously helps shape your face, and this combo helps make them look so natural! The Givenchy Mister Brow Filler is expensive, but so worth it. It leaves your eyebrows feathery and in place all day.

8. Nars Blush Duo | Hot Sand and Laguna: A classic – It’s the perfect contour for my skin tone, without being too ashy. Bonus, it includes a highlighter which is great for dusting all over your face.

9. Too Faced Sweetheart Bronzer | Sweet Tea: I can’t stop using this. It’s the perfect summer bronze with a slight highlight that brings life to your face.

10. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush | Exposed: The perfect nude flush of color for your cheeks. It’s not overpowering, but definitely makes a difference in your appearance.

11. Smashbox Spotlight Palette | Pearl: It’s perfect for fair skin tones and seriously is the perfect highlight, whether you want something subtle or bold.

12. Bite Beauty Lip Liner | #12: I’ve essentially been living in this Bite Beauty Lipliner in #12. Talk about the perfect nude lip…I don’t even top this with a liquid lipstick because it’s perfect on its own.

13. Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara | Black: I’ve tried so hard to like other mascaras, but this one adds the perfect combination of volume and length. It’s a forever staple.

Happy traveling, y’all!

Frosé All Day

Although we are overly excited for the quickly approaching return of fall and all that comes with it (i.e. football, boots, and pumpkin flavored everything), summer is not quite over yet. We’re taking every opportunity to soak up what’s left of the warm weather and there’s no better way than with fruity, frozen cocktails. We created our take on frosé and were not disappointed (despite the headache the next morning).

Contrary to how we usually do things, we took the simple route when it came to ingredients. All we included was rosé wine, vodka, frozen strawberries, and ice. We garnished with blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries and it was one of the prettiest drinks we have ever made. It was just the right balance of sour and sweet and tasted a lot more smoothie than boozey (so take caution when drinking).

The process is easy and can really be adapted for whatever your needs are (more or less alcohol). We used the entire bottle of rosé as well as approximately 5 shots of vodka. After mixing it up in the blender with about 10 ounces of frozen strawberries and enough ice to get that frozen consistency, we had summer in a glass. Although a lot of frosé recipes call for extra sweetener like sugar or simple syrup, we would definitely recommend not adding anything extra. The rosé and strawberries are sweet enough on their own. Cheers, y’all.

Cheers to Something New

Prior to jumping into beauty, home décor, cooking, and wine, let’s start with the journey that brought us to Upper Arlington, Ohio and who we are:

Caroline was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and following earning a marketing degree, she decided to take a leap and pursue her Master’s degree at the University of Georgia. Although, hesitant to start over in a new city, make new friends, and complete yet another year of education, Caroline decided to take the opportunity and moved to Athens, a small town in southeast Georgia. Alyssa was born in South Bend, Indiana, and since the start of higher education, Alyssa had chosen to attend a school in a different state to study psychology, and was always eager to explore outside her hometown. Not quite ready for adulthood, and with a desire to pursue her Masters, Alyssa sought out graduate school and found the University of Georgia MMR program. Little did they know, attending UGA would be the best decision they’ve made, and change their life completely. Caroline and Alyssa quickly met a group of 8 best friends that were essentially inseparable, and with them made unforgettable memories, slowly became more adult, and navigated a year of graduate school. As graduate school began to come to an end, Caroline and Alyssa sought job after job, becoming frustrated with the rejection and started to think they might not have a job prior to graduation. One LinkedIn message from an industry expert changed the game for both. They landed an initial interview, then a second interview, and next thing they knew, they’re flying out to Columbus, Ohio for a visit. Caroline, nervous about the possibility of moving, never anticipated accepting a job in a different state and making a big move. The visit changed her mind, and she immediately fell in love with Columbus, and chose to push past the fear of moving and accepted the job. Alyssa on the other hand was wary of being driving distance from her hometown after being so independent and far away for so long. Despite this, a month following graduation, Caroline and Alyssa moved to Upper Arlington to kick start a new chapter of life, starting her first big girl job, in a new city, as partners in crime.

Alyssa is a self-proclaimed sommelier and a master chef with a knack for home décor, hairstyling, and beauty. Caroline is self-proclaimed foodie, minor league home decorator, with an obsession for makeup. We’ll give you a mix of everything, with a little bit of comedy intertwined. We’re two women trying to thrive in adulthood, and Arlington Pique is our outlet to share what we love, with people who love them too.

Let’s get started, y’all!
